Installing System eight.x on BasiliskII?
Okay, I take Basilisk II up and running: MacIIci (68030) or Quadra 900 (69040), both booting into 7.v.five.
I can mount a Unix book for transferring files to MacOS ten.eleven.6 on my MacBook Pro.
Now, I want to install 8.ane simply I am sort of stuck. I practice have a couple of Developer CDs:
- August 1997 (System 8.0)
- February 1998 (Organization viii.1)
I tin can make a .dmg file but I tin can't seem to mount it in Basilisk. Possibly someone has some guide on how to practice this?
I'd be happy to share my experience.

If you have no special reason to utilize the images from the dev CDs, here are some collected:

The Macintosh Anthology also covers localised MacOS8 versions in Dutch.
The .img files from DVD may exist moved onto a say 2GB Mac volume via the Unix folder to run the OS installer.
You may also copy a MacOS .img to a place on your MBP and add the .img to the SheepShaver volumes listing.
I feel that mounting .img from inside Basilisk II with DiskCopy was more successful, only my retentiveness may be incorrect.

Re: Installing System 8.ten on BasiliskII?
I did all my installs on BII from a 7.5.5 starter that I created the traditional way -- all the residual were images loaded past Disk Re-create inside BII along with a blank book prototype to install onto. Call back that y'all didn't have to kicking from the OS version yous were installing back then.

Re: Installing Organization 8.x on BasiliskII?
I tin run 8.1 in BasiliskII in OSX (at present macOS 10.13). Principal issue is not crashes but the push in window scroll bars non giving feedback (information technology stays in one place during scrolling). I practise not apply information technology anymore since I installed 8.1 in SheepShaver. I tried information technology just now to see if it still works. I don't think eight.1 has much reward over seven.v.5. Possibly 7.6.i would be amend, it was the most stable version at the time.

I've been running 8.1 in BII since effectually 2006 on Windows and OS Ten hosts. Just brand sure you're using the Quadra ROM and accept a sane extension set.

I was wondering where that scrollbar bug came from. System 8.1 doesn't have that trouble in SheepShaver?

Trying to understand where that code actually lives. Is that something that's patched in by the emulator?
Re: Installing Arrangement 8.x on BasiliskII?
i simply changed the rom_patch.cpp to apply volatile pointers. I think it's helped my VS2017 Release build a little.
Still, for some reason it won't update the screen unless I motility the mouse out and back into emulator screen.
Once I can get this issues straightened out, the Release native Win32 will be enough fast.
Wondering which of the patches clobbered the scroll bar position changing routine, though.
